This is a big EQ boost to an area of the signal, applied before an overdrive circuit, and the exact opposite applied right after. The zone thus saturated will be represented by its harmonics generated by the saturation, and therefore highlighted, but without being really dominant. Kind of Voodoo right ? I use it subtly to add character and presence to clean sounds, or more aggressively to change the sound drastically without sacrificing the whole signal, which helps keep definition, tonal balance, and impact, even on extreme settings. The difficulty in the design was to control the boost and the cut on a single button, the Shape, to make this technique easy and quick to apply in a playing situation”

A few examples: at high gain, by saturating the high frequencies, the amount of harmonics generated, coupled with a preserved bass will sound a little hollow in the mids, but without losing presence, and will sound more natural than a classic V done with an EQ. At low gain, you will get a nice tape recorder type saturation.

By saturating the mids, and playing with the tone of the guitar or that of the pedal, you can get very close to the sounds of electric pianos like Fender Rhodes!

Don't look for the sound of your usual overdrive, you won't find it here, but let yourself be inspired by the new sonic territories offered by Voodoo!

Manuel : Voodoo_Manual_ENG

Graphic design By Melvin Zed http://www.seriz.fr/

The Voodoo is a wideband saturation pedal with frequency-selective clipping circuitry.
